SEARCHING FOR FILES: Using HiJaak Browser, you can search for any file by defining search rules
based on available criteria. You can save the results of the search with search rules, or just save the
results as a Collection. HiJaak Browser allows you to search on the following criteria:
File Name
Location
Date
File Size
Attributes
Keywords
CREATING COLLECTIONS: You can create customized Collections of files to organize files in the way that makes the most sense to you: by format, project or content. You can keep just one copy of a file, yet
still maintain references to it from several collections which saves disk space.
CREATING DIRECTORIES: You can create file based collections called Directories. A Directory contains thumbnails that represent the contents of a floppy disk, hard drive, CD-ROM, network
drive, or any other type of removable media. When you create a Directory in
HiJaak Browser, you also create a DOS directory.
PRINTING CATALOGS OF FILES: HiJaak Browser allows you to print thumbnails of files, giving you a paper catalog of all your graphics files. It also allows you to print files in source formats supported by
HiJaak. For a list of supported source formats, see Supported formats, later in this chapter.
CONVERTING FILES: HiJaak Browser allows you to convert to and from more than 75 graphics
formats. Converting a file is the process of creating a new file by changing the original from one
graphics format to another. When you convert a file, HiJaak Browser allows you to set conversion
options such as contrast, brightness, number of colors, grayscale and maximum height and width.
For a list of HiJaak-supported formats, see Supported Formats, later in this chapter.
LAUNCHING APPLICATIONS: HiJaak Browser has an Application bar to which you can add any application available to you. You can start a program by clicking on the application button or dragging a
thumbnail representing a file you want to import or edit onto an application button.

HiJaak PRO
HiJaak PRO allows you to convert files to and from 75 graphics
formats including raster, fax, vector and metafile formats, virtually eliminating graphics
incompatibility. HiJaak PRO allows you to convert images, convert files one at a time or
in batch, and apply options to conversions. It also allows you to use Trace to convert raster images to
vector. HiJaak PRO allows you to capture screens running under Windows or
DOS and save the capture in any of HiJaak's supported formats. HiJaak

CONVERTING A FILE FROM ONE FORMAT TO ANOTHER: Using HiJaak PRO, you can convert graphics files to and from more than 75 formats and apply most of the options listed on the previous page. Converting a file is the process of creating a new file by changing the original from one graphics format to another. Converting files is useful if you need use a file in an application that does not support the format of the file; you can convert the file to a format the application supports. When you are converting a file
to place in one of your other applications, you can have HiJaak PRO choose the best file
format for many popular software applications. For a list of HiJaak-supported formats, see
Supported Formats, later in this chapter.
HiJaak PRO supports the following conversions: raster to raster;
raster to vector (trace); vector to vector; and vector to raster. You can convert files one at a time or
in batch. You can convert files from within HiJaak PRO or from the command line. You
can also use set files which allow you to customize conversions. For more information on converting
files, search on convert in the HiJaak PRO help. For more information on set files,
search on set files in the HiJaak PRO help.
CAPTURING A SCREEN: You can capture DOS and Windows screens and save them in any
of HiJaak PRO's supported file formats.
When you are capturing DOS screens you can select the following
options: the graphics card in your system; the hotkeys that will begin the capture; a temporary
directory which HiJaak PRO will use for temporary files; and the amount of expanded
memory (EMS) to use if there is any available. You can also compress the output files
and rasterize text. When text is rasterized, it is captured as graphics rather than as text. Rasterizing
text is useful if the screen you want to capture contains text in non-standard fonts. DOS
screens are captured as IGF files; however, you can convert the files to other formats
once they are captured.
When you are capturing Windows screens, HiJaak PRO allows
you to select what portion of the screen you want to capture. You can capture the entire screen, an
individual window or object, or a specific area of the screen. Windows screens are captured as raster
files; however, you can convert the files to other formats once they are captured.
HiJaak PRO also allows you to set Window capture options
including the following: hide/show cursor; hide/show HiJaak PRO; prompt for options;
border; and scale to window. Finally, you can select the hotkeys that are used to start the capture
and the location to which you want to capture the screen. You can capture a screen to the HiJaak
PRO window, the printer, the clipboard, a file or a HiJaak Browser Collection.
PRINTING AN IMAGE: You can print any image that you can view in HiJaak PRO. HiJaak
supports all Windows printers. When you print an image, you can set various print options such as
grayscale, center, zoom to page, number of colors, and contrast and brightness.

HiJaak Smuggler
HiJaak Smuggler allows you to import HiJaak-supported images into any
application that supports pasting graphics through the Windows Clipboard. When you run HiJaak
Smuggler, it adds its icon to the title bar of active applications. You can use this icon to launch
HiJaak Smuggler and import files directly into the open application. HiJaak Smuggler also allows
you to browse through thumbnails of files you might want to import. You can also use Smuggler to
search for files and set import options such as image size, grayscale, aspect ratio, and contrast and
brightness.
