September 3, 1993

As you will see from the enclosed letter, this started out as a reminder
that the special pricing for WinVision, our new speech access program for
MicroSoft Windows 3.1, expires on September 30, 1993. However, an
exciting new development has taken place. We now have demonstration copies
of Business Vision version 3.08 and WinVision available and have included
them on this disk. This file explains how to install and run this software.

The other data files on this disk will provide you with valuable
information about WinVision and MicroSoft Windows. But with the enclosed
demonstration software, you can explore Windows yourself!

This demonstration software is designed to work with either an Artic
SynPhonix-215 internal speech synthesizer card or an Artic TransPort external
speech synthesizer. If you are using a SynPhonix-215 you must have the VEST
text-to-speech program resident in either the \ARTIC\VISION sub-directory or
the root directory of your hard disk. If you do not have access to either of
these synthesizers, a copy of this demonstration software for the DECtalk PC
synthesizer will be available in the near future.

To install the demonstration software, all that you have to do is issue
two simple commands. The first command will install the demonstration
Business Vision on your hard disk. You don't have to worry about over
writing your existing Artic files, since this command will create a new
sub-directory called \ARTIC\VISDEM.

From the DOS prompt, type the command INSTALL and specify your hard disk.
For example, if your hard disk is C:, you would enter the following:

 INSTALL C:

The second command will install the WinVision files. In this case, you
must specify both your hard disk and the sub-directory in which your
Windows files reside. Typically, this will be something like:

 INSTALLW C:\WINDOWS

Once you have performed the above installation, you may start the demonstration
Business Vision 3.08 for your SynPhonix-215 by typing:

 DEMOBV

This assumes that your SynPhonix is using the default IRQ set at the factory.
If the IRQ jumper has been changed, then use the corresponding DEMOBV batch
file to start the demonstration program. For example, if you have changed
the IRQ jumper to use IRQ 7, then you would enter:

 DEMOBV7

If you are using a TransPort synthesizer, the command to start the demonstration
Business Vision 3.08 would be either:

 DEMOTV1

if your TransPort is connected to COM1, or:

 DEMOTV2

if your TransPort is connected to COM2.

Once Business Vision 3.08 is running, the demonstration WinVision will
automatically run when you enter Windows. The demonstration software will run
for approximately 15 minutes, after which the system must be reinitialized
before it can be run again.

We hope that you enjoy this opportunity to explore Business Vision 3.08 and
the exciting new WinVision program. See for yourself how accessible WinVision
makes Windows.

And now, the other informational files will be displayed.
