Package: Directory Control (DCon)
Version: 1.0
Date: December 9, 1991

Purpose:

To aid in the administration of DOS based PC files.

PLEASE:

READ THE DOCUMENTATION TO EACH UTILITY BEFORE YOU USE IT. SOME OF THE
PROGRAMS IN THIS PACKAGE CAN WIPE OUT AN ENTIRE DIRECTORY IF THEY ARE
NOT USED CORRECTLY.

Files in Package:

D .EXE Flat File Lister. Shows the directory in 5 columns.
All files are listed regardless of attribute.

DCDEL .EXE Delete any file regardless of attribute (can prompt).
Essentially works the same as DEL in DOS except for
the attribute override function. READ THE DOCS!

DCDMAK .EXE Makes a filename sorted sequential DOS text file
called DCDIR.LST in the active directory.

DCF .EXE File lister - can sort by Name, Extension or Size.
The program also shows any attached attributes.

DCFILDAT.EXE Compares two directories and can Copy, Delete, or
run a batch file if file dates differ from the
master directory. PLEASE READ THE DCFILDAT.DOC FILE
                        FIRST!

DCMAP .EXE Be CAREFUL with this one!. The first time it is run,
it maps all files in a directory and assumes that they
are the valid files and saves the names. If a file
with a new name shows up, it will be deleted regardless
of attributes. Use this on junk/working file
directories. PLEASE READ THE DCMAP.DOC file before
                        you ever use this program!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DCSA .EXE Strips all file attributes from the file spec used.
                        READ THE DOCS!

DCUPDAY .EXE Runs a batch file entitled "UPDAY.BAT" once a day.
Once DCUPDAY has been run, it saves the current date
to a text file & then checks that file each time it
                        is run.

DCDEL, DCMAP, DCFILDAT, DCMAP and DCSA should be used with caution. I just
want you to know what they do before you ever run them. I STRONGLY URGE A
NEW USER TO RUN THESE PROGRAMS UNDER TEST CONDITIONS AWAY FROM THEIR OTHER
PROGRAMS BEFORE THEY ATTEMPT TO ADOPT THEM FOR REGULAR USE.

This package is a little different from some utility packages that are on the
market today. If you only like one or two programs, the individual programs
can be registered for $5 per concurrently used copy. The bargain (in my
eyes) is that the whole package is only $20. It is up to you whether or not
you want the entire package or only specific files. If this package, or one
of the utilities aids you, you should register your copy. For example, say you
want DCMAP & DCUPDAY, then you need only send $10. But please, if you use this
software, register it.

                Sincerely,
