What's new in PMPOP v1.1?

PMPOP 1.1 has a number of enhancements over the original 1.0 release,
including the following:

* A Packet-driver version is now provided as well as a version for
Novell's LAN Workplace for DOS stack. The Packet driver version
should work with almost any packet driver and I have had reports
that it will work with a SLIP packet driver, although I have not
   been able to substantiate this.

* The documentation has been substantially improved, and the
installation process for most users will be considerably simpler
   than for 1.0.

* It is now possible to set your "From" address to any value; as a
balancing point to this, PMPOP now will not send mail at all unless
it can login successfully to the POP3 account you specify first; it
will write the POP3 account address into the "Sender" field of the
message as a form of security measure to guard against malicious
   forgery.

* PMPOP can now be forced to run in standalone mode on NetWare
systems by modifying its command line so that a "-a" switch is
present, just as with Pegasus Mail itself.

* PMPOP can now be configured without the TCP/IP stack actually being
present in memory. Operation will only fail if an attempt is made
to perform an action which actually requires the stack.

Known problems in this release

Release 1.1 of PMPOP should be very stable. The only known problem at
this stage is a glitch in the way sockets are closed which may result
in slight reliability problems on very slow links (a 2400bps SLIP
link may be the sort of candidate for this problem). This will
hopefully be corrected in a future release.
