Number: A2TH081590U338 Subject: Minimum and Maximum Packet Receive Buffers Date: September 18, 1990 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - GENERAL INFORMATION: With all the cases of upgrading from NetWare 386 v3.0 to NetWare 386 v3.1 going on right now, we are finding that the minimum and maximum packet receiver buffers "default" is set too low for a lot of networks. In researching the documentation to find out how to make the changes permanent, this is what we found with NetWare 386 v3.1. (It was all done in AUTOEXEC.NCF in v3.0.) The "minimum packet receive buffers" limit can only be changed in the STARTUP.NCF file. The "maximum packet receive buffers" limit can only be changed in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file. This turns out to be (in a round about sort of way) exactly as documented. (X) This information was verified in the lab.
