Because these boards are considered high-end file server cards and marketing does not anticipate a large demand for these cards to be used in workstations. This isn't only a marketing issue. DOS is a 16-bit OS, as are OS/2 and NetWare 286. As we all know, this means they push data around 16 bits at a time. Right? There is no way they would benefit significantly from 32-bit LAN cards. Some recent benchmarks in PC Magazine showed that the Compaq Systempro's 32-bit drive array actually slowed DOS down! So the moral of the story is 32-bit cards are for the 32-bit OS. There is really only one.
