Number: A2CK082090U378 Subject: GPI With Between 8 to 12 I/O Pending Date: September 28, 1990 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PROBLEM: Using NetWare 286 (ELS I and II, Advanced, and SFT): If you down an operating system using the ISADISK driver v2.04 with open files and halt the network with I/O Pending around 10 (plus or minus 2 or 3), the server will display the message "General protection Interrupt" (GPI). Then, when you bring the server back up, you will get FAT "data mirror mismatch" errors. SOLUTION: These errors are not fatal and can be corrected by the system or by running VREPAIR. Higher and lower I/O Pending counts will not cause GPIs and FAT errors; the system closes the files before halting. Although not critical, this may cause problems when using a UPS. It has been reported to Engineering. Note: Only v2.04 of the ISADISK was tested but this may also occur with earlier versions of ISADISK (or ATDISK). (X) This information was verified in the lab.
