TITLE: NetWare Lite v1.1 Utility for Windows (WNET) DOCUMENT ID#: FYI.P.6129 DATE: 23Feb93 PRODUCT: NetWare Lite PRODUCT VERSION: All versions SUPERSEDES: NA SYMPTOM: NA ISSUE/PROBLEM NetWare Lite v1.1 Utility for Windows (WNET) The NetWare Lite Utility for Windows (from here on referred to as WNET) is now available to customers who already have v1.1. Cost is $30.00 per Network and may be obtained by calling 1-800-UPDATE1 and select option 1. You must have a separate copy for each v1.1 Network. (Network is in reference to a single group of Netware Lite users) (see FAX Document #246 for press release) NOTE: This utility works only on computers running NetWare Lite v1.1 and Windows v3.0 or v3.1. However, v3.1 is the current version of Windows which we suggest customers use. WNET is a new utility with full Windows interface and substantial Windows support. The setup of WNET is easy and straight forward. It also includes a handy Quickstart guide. The installation will modify your System.ini and Win.ini files and creates an WNET group icon. Prior to WNET, NetWare Lite tasks were performed from DOS, now you may use the Windows interface to perform network tasks. This utility provides an easy button bar approach to such tasks as, User Login, drag and drop drive and printer connections, Send messages, either Exit from WNET or Logout and EXIT, save or restore user login and setup or remove user accounts plus more. Help suggestions If you use Windows 3.1 in Standard mode, load TBMI2.COM after loading SERVER.EXE and CLIENT.EXE. Modify your STARTNET.BAT so TBMI2.COM loads after SERVER.EXE and CLIENT.EXE. This is different from the instructions in NetWare Lite v1.1 documentation. If you load TBMI2.COM before SERVER.EXE and CLIENT.EXE, you may experience print corruption problems when running Windows 3.1 in Standard mode. If you use Windows 3.0 in Standard mode, load TBMI.COM after loading SERVER.EXE and CLIENT.EXE. Modify your STARTNET.BAT so that TBMI.COM loads after SERVER.EXE and CLIENT.EXE. If you get "FILE OPEN ERROR" when setting up the "NetWare Lite v1.1 Utility for Windows," make sure that TASKID.COM, TBMI.COM, TBMI2.COM, and VIPX.386 are in your NWLITE directory. If the files have been removed from your NWLITE directory, install NetWare Lite v1.1 again (the files will be installed in the NWLITE directory), then run the WNET utility for Windows SETUP. If reinstalling do not select Server Only, it will not copy TBMI.COM and TBMI2.COM. WNET ships with all current update files (see UPDATE.DOC on the WNET diskette) See FAX document #267 NetWare Lite Update Release for v1.1, for any revised or new updates.
