Subject: GPI/NMI Abends Here is a some usefull information that Novell Tech Support gave me in trying to decipher GPI or NMI abends. When the server abends, type "deb" at the server console. Deb will not be echoed on the screen and a "-" should appear. If the dash appears type i61 and enter. A return code should appear. Return code ranges Possible conflict ------------------- ------------------ > 80 mem. problems or bad cpu. 40-7F problems with cards in the server. ie network boards, graphics board or disk cntl. < 3F corrupted network operating system. (solution: regenerate operating system). Your can also type ? and the GPI/NMI error message will re-appear. I hope this will help you track down the causes of GPI and NMI abends.
