TECHNICAL BULLETIN Bulletin #1-253 Date: October 16, 1989 NINSTALL.EXE Limitation in NetWare Version 2.15, Revision C NINSTALL.EXE is a utility that is called from NETGEN.EXE. The copy of NINSTALL.EXE that comes with revision C of NetWare v2.15 has a limitation. This limitation only affects existing systems that are being updated--it does not affect first-time installations. The initial NETGEN window asks the installer to choose either default or custom configuration. If the installer selects the default configuration, the file server will eventually hang as the installer progresses through the menus. The default configuration cannot handle the disk driver upgrade from the original AT disk driver to the newer ISA disk driver that is included with revision C of NetWare v2.15. NINSTALL.EXE has been updated and is now available on NetWire. The update will resolve the problem described above. The file size is 145,385 bytes and is dated 10/4/89. If you are unable to get this file from NetWire, you can use the custom configuration option to work around the limitation. You must also answer "Yes" when the option to "Fix Master System Table" option appears. If you answer "No," no installation will occur. If you encounter this limitation, you will need to reset your machine, restart NETGEN.EXE, and select the "custom configuration" option.
