Optical Publishing Assoc. Just a moment ... join your partner in the optical publishing industry. Time, it seems, is the most precious commodity of all. In a new and fast-moving industry, everyone needs time to educate the consumer, time to develop the tools and technologies to sell, and time to reach the proper marketplace for their products. OPA cannot put more hours in your day, but we do multiply the effect of our collective membership, reaching out to the information-providing and -consuming communities at large, educating and raising awareness about the benefits of optical technology. The OPA is many things, but it is primarily defined by the needs of its members. We pursue activities that support the optical publishing industry in many ways. OPA is the information center of the industry with a growing list of publications specially geared to the publisher using, or planning to use CDROM. The monthly "Management Report" is just one of the services we currently support, as well as publications such as the Optical Publishing Industry Assessment '90 (by Julie B. Schwerin of InfoTech), co-sponsorship of meetings like CDROM Expo, and our own working meetings during the course of the year. We have become a known source for expertise in the industry, and as a primary contact point for the press. In the course of the past year alone, we have helped hundreds of publishers get started in their optical projects, by providing them with contacts, resource lists, and occasional advice. This networking function strengthens the base of the industry and helps everyone grow. At the same time, our activities remove some burden from your own promotional efforts, allowing you to focus on promoting your product, instead of basic education. The OPA's Technical Forum has just completed work on the new "Data Description Protocol" for multimedia mastering, which is now in the formal standards process. The OPA's Awards program has received international attention. Special in_terest groups, like MEDSIG, for the medical publishing community, regularly meet to exchange working ideas and cultivate business relationships. Our feature articles and press releases appear in publications worldwide, generating interest, and ultimately, customers for our members. Next year's program will be even more aggressive. It just takes a moment to complete the form and join the OPA. But the benefits come back to you over the course of the entire year. The OPA is your resource and your advocate in the optical publishing industry. There are major issues that go beyond the influence of an individual company. The OPA represents the industry in such vital areas as standards, industry research, market education, access to resources, copyright, and licensing. The pace of growth and change in our business is accelerating. Take just a moment now to complete a membership form. Simply click the "Print Form" button below and enjoy the benefits of membership for the coming year. Now is the time to get involved, to make sure that OPA has the benefit of your perspectives and ideas as we help to shape the future. Become a member of the OPA today!
