A POINT OF CLARIFICATION: Near the "Silver Gate Bridge III" sign, there is a way to determine if you are in the correct view mode. In the totally-zoomed- in mode, if the signs read "If u can read this.." and below that "You don't need glasses.", then you are in the "Classic View" of IslandTown. This is, in my opinion, the city's best side. If the signs read "You don't need glasses." "If u can read this..", then it's upside-down. If the signs read "You do" "If u can read this.." Then you're totally screwed up and you should click on the little rotate button until it's where it should be. The "Classic View" of IslandTown is truly a beautiful spectacle. It's worth your trouble. NOTES ON ARCOLOGIES: For anyone that's interested, I have determined that arcologies take about x/200 to x/100 years to fill up, where x=the capacity of the arcology. For example, a Launch Arcology (capacity 65,000) takes 325 to 650 years to fill up. MORE NOTES ON ARCOLOGIES: Plymouth Arcos generate HUGE amounts of crime. The only reason I keep them around is because there are already 55,000 people in each of them and it would take too long to redo. Forest Arcos generate low amounts of crime, but only hold 35,000 people. I have just now seen that what I give up in population is also what I give up in crime, so it balances out. Darcos generate medium amounts of crime. Again, they only hold 45,000 people, so they're probably not worth your space. Plus, they're really ugly. :) Launch Arcos generate high amounts of crime, but not as much as Plymouths. They hold 65,000 people, the largest capacity of any arcology. The designers of this game tried to balance these guys with a $200,000 price tag, but now that I'm earning about $25k a year and have over $525 million stored up, its no problem. Always build police stations near these bad boys. PARKS: This section is dedicated to my mom. Parks are always a good idea. They will increase your sims' happiness, causing more sims wanting to live in your city. Also, any form of recreation is extraordinarily cheap for all the benifits they have (not that money's a big problem with IslandTown). HIGHWAYS: There are no highways in IslandTown (although I toyed with the idea some time ago, and in fact a highway entrance still exists somewhere :D) but decided that I didn't need it. However, if any SimCity 2000 entrepenuer wants to put highways in, let me know (InterNet address to follow). Make a working copy and go ahead and upload it. Just give ME credit in a file somewhere in your ZIP. I don't care where. You could even make a text file that says "Chris Lyons made IslandTown up" and leave it at that, but I want some recognition!!! Also include this file. BRAUN LLAMA DOMES AND SUCH: Ever notice how the Braun Llama Dome looks like a combination of the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and your local McDonald's? I wouldn't be surprised if they started serving Big Macs and stuff at those places. And something else: after a while the Mayor's House is called simply "man." WHY?! DISTRIBUTE THIS!!!!!! Upload it to as many places as you can. If some kind soul out there with AOL access would spread it there I'd appreciate it. Well, that's all I have to say. Thanks for reading this. :) -MAYOR CHRIS LYONS Internet: 73024.1132@compuserve.com CompuServe E-Mail: 73024,1132 Most BBSi in Atlanta, GA including Shareware South CORRESPONDANCE SECTION: To Jason Guest: :P To Janet & Kyle Larson: I love you guys.
