the following is a release by the united states  geological  survey,
national earthquake information center:  a light earthquake occurred
in western arizona about 30 miles (50  km)  south  of  grand  canyon
village at 3:30 am MDT today, apr 25, 1993 (2:30 am cst in arizona).
the magnitude was computed at 4.8 on the richter scale.  there  have
been no reports of damage.
