FINDING YOUR WAY AROUND PLUG & PLAY ------------------------------------ Most of the products covered in this CD-ROM are Windows'95 Plug & Play compliant. (All except ESS688/ESS1688 sound card, however the drivers for these cards are already embedded within the Windows'95 program). Windows'95 has software drivers for a wide variety of popular hardware already embedded within the Windows'95 program. With plug & play technology Windows'95 can recognize your particular type of hardware and assign a default (or) embedded driver to it. Because software drivers change regularly as technology improves we recommend that you use the manufacturers own drivers instead of the default Windows’95 drivers. This will ensure you are installing the latest technology to go with your specific hardware. During Windows’95 boot up procedure (after new hardware has been installed) you will be prompted with a "New Hardware Detected" dialog box. At this stage you can choose the default Windows’95 driver or one from the hardware manufacturer. Choose "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer". Then you will need to direct Windows’95 to the location of the specific driver. At this stage please follow these paths........ SOUND CARDS PATH ----------- ----- ESS 1868 D:\drivers\ess1868\win95\ ESS938 D:\drivers\ess938\win95\ OPTi931 D:\drivers\opti931\win3195\ YAMAHA SA2/OPL4ML D:\drivers\yamsa2\win95\ VGA CARDS PATH --------- ---- Trident ProVidia 9685 D:\drivers\9685vga\win95\ Notes : "D" represents your CD-ROM drive. This may change according to your set-up ESS688 & ESS1688 latest drivers are already embedded in Windows’95 so in this case use default Windows’95 drivers. Thank you.
