Installation Steps :

Insert the Sound Card driver disk in your floppy drive, log onto that drive and type "INSTALL" at DOS prompt.
The Sound Card DOS driver installation program will appear.
Click on the 'CONTINUE' button & then 'Start Installation' to begin installation.

You will be prompted to select a drive and directory. The default is C:\ OPTI931.
Press 'OK' and brings you to another screen asking you where you have Windows 3.1 installed. When you choose 'OK' the installation program will begin. The screen will appear as below.

When the files are copied, press 'OK' to confirm under the 'File Copy Confirmation' screen.
Then the CD-ROM type selection screen will pop up. Choose 'NONE' if no CD-ROM is needed to install or make your selection and press 'OK'.
Then you will come to the 'Configuration & Sound-Test Menu", choose 'ACCEPT' to confirm your settings and INSTALL willl begin updating your system.

Reboot your computer system and Driver Installation is completed.

Note :If your system does not support Plug & Play, you will have to make your configuration settings under the 'Configuration & Sound-Test' menu. But if your system supports the Plug & Play 1.0a specification, most of these settings will not be user selectable.

2.22 Windows 95 Driver Installation

Note : Install the Sound Card into the motherboard only after the Windows '95 has already installed into the new HDD of the new system, then restart the system and follow the procedure below..

Install the Sound Card on the motherboard, and power on the system.
During the Windows 95 boot procedure, new hardware will be detected as shown below.
Select the "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacture" item, and click the "OK" button.

Click on the option that matches the installed hardware. Windows '95 will then copy the driver file to your hard file. Then re-start your computer.
This will complete the Windows '95 installation.

2.23 Audio Application Installation

After the software installation is completed and rebooted your system, the changes to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files will be installed.
Start Windows 3.1, 'Install Audio Application' screen will appear, select 'YES' to proceed.

Windows will create the audio application program group shown below.

Audio Mixer let you adjust the volume settings for each of the individual audio sources that the supports.

Karaoke Control enables you to direct the microphone input directly to the speaker output.

Audio Player allows you to play and record .WAV files from your hard drive or play music CDs from your CD-ROM drive.

2.24 OPTI 931 / OPTI 931+3D Driver Installation
If you have purchased the OPTI 931+3D sound card with 3D feature, click on the 'OPTi-3' button, you can enjoy 3D Sound which can be applied to any audio, whether it is from CD, MIDI File or Wave file.
(If you have purchased the OPTI 931 sound card without the 3D feature, clicking on this button will not affect the sound at all. The 3D button is effectively disabled).

Note : When you load the Windows drivers for this product it automatically assigns a button for the OPTi 3D feature to the Willowpond MediaRack utility. This button appears as follows...

3. Troubleshooting

Problem : No Sound During Normal Usage.

Solution A: Audio accessories improperly connected. Check that all audio accessories are plugged into the proper connectors.

Solution B : Volume control adjustment. Make sure that the volume control is not set too low.

Problem : No Visual Activity on Volume Meter.

Solution A: DMA channel conflict. Check that no audio accessories are attempting to use the same DMA channels and change DMA channels.

Solution B : The Sound Card driver is removed. Run setup to reinstall the driver.

Problem : No Sound or Receive Error Messages During Windows Starts.

Solution A: Another sound card driver is installed. If you install more than one sound driver in Windows, a conflict may arise. To solve this problem, you should remove all unnecessary drivers, and reinstall the Sound Card driver.

Solution B : The Sound Card driver is removed. Run setup to reinstall the driver.

Problem : No Sound in Windows 95.

Solution A : Configuration problem, you should check the configuration, use the manual configuration to set the Sound Card's resource.

Solution B : Either the motherboard does not support PnP function or the PnP option of the motherboard's BIOS is not enabled. To clarify these, please contact your motherboard dealer.
