=== DingDang Chinese Word Processor for Windows ===

Requirement: IBMPC compatible (286 and up), MS Window version 3.1
or OS/2 2.1. Example of setting up in directory c:\dingdang (or
whatever on hard disk).

1. After unzip, you shall have the following files in directory
c:\dingdang:

   READ.ME          ;this file
   DDWIN.EXE        ;the main program
   DDWIN.HLP        ;the help file
   SONG16.FON ;jian ti zi font file
   FAN16.FON ;fan ti zi font file
   CANGJIE.GB ;how to use cang jie in Chinese
   CJB.PCX ;cang jie rule, use window paint to open
   PINYIN.GB        ;pinyin table
   PRINTTST.GB      ;printer test
   DINGDANG.INI     ;dingdang initial file
   REGISTER.DOC     ;registration form

2. Start Window. Add a program item to any of your group:

   Window Title:       DingDang
   Command line:       c:\dingdang\ddwin.exe
   Working directory:

3. After the first run of the program, you shall have a file called
DINGDANG.INI in your WINDOW directory which is usually C:\WINDOWS.
You can add any of your additional font files by modifying this
file. You may need to make the following changes in the file:

   [font]
   Song16=c:\dingdang\song16.fon
   Fan16=c:\dingdang\fan16.fon

Essentially, DDWIN.HLP should be in the same directory as
DDWIN.EXE. All *.FON font files should be in the directory as
specified in file \WINDOWS\DINGDANG.INI (default=current
directory). Please read all topics in the help contents in the
program including the registration information.

4. If you like to use traditional (complex) characters, just put
the fan16.fon as the first line. Your font section in DINGDANG.INI
should be looks like the following:

   [font]
   Fan16=c:\dingdang\fan16.fon
   Song16=c:\dingdang\song16.fon

5. This program should be easy for people just started to learn
Chinese with Pinyin input. Here is a tip: If you can't find a
character's pinyin, you can choose a similar sounded character,
then choose Input, QueWei. You can browse through. You can also
browse though by using the scroll bar in Pinyin Dialog box. If you
still can't find it, try open file PINYIN.GB.

6. By default, '~' is used as the delimited character. It can't be
used in normal text. The Chinese version of '~' can be used. If
you need to use the English version of '~', you should use a
different character as delimited character such as ASCII code 127.
You need to make the following changes in DINGDANG.INI file:

   [dd]
   ...
   delimited char=127

You can use 'Add Control' menu item to add page control code. Or
you can still type code 127 by holding Alt key, and press 127 on
the numeric keypad. See program help context about the page
control code to control printing appearance.
