.CMD files supplied with the Scripta program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The .CMD files included in the distribution package are in regular
daily use by the author so may be relied upon as fully working
examples of Scripta scripts. Humble apologies if I have omitted to
make the odd item configurable. You'll soon know cos you'll log in
as me or something similar.
Between them, they use only a tiny proportion of Scripta's vast
range of facilities and, with one exception, make little use of the
extremely powerful screen windowing and input/output functions.
Files named *CFG.CMD are not intended to be executed directly - they
are subsidiary scripts invoked from within other scripts.
Configuration
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before running Scripta, either free-standing or from within Power-QWK,
you must first set up your Scripta Configuration.

To do this, either type SCRIPTA followed by Alt/c when you see the
Command Mode screen, or type SCRIPTA /C to hold a Configuration
session which returns to DOS when you finish.

The most important items to configure are your default upload and
download directories plus your required default port number,
modem initialisation string and default baud rate for the default
port.

If you have a Miracom Courier or similar modem which has preset
initialisation parameters then you may leave the Scripta
initialisation string unchanged at 'ATZ^M'. This tells your modem
to 'reset to factory defaults' or, for presettable modems, to
'reinstate my own settings'.

If you do not have a presettable modem, and are unsure of what
initialisation string to set, try the second alternative string
offered in Configuration.

If this doesn't work, READ THE MANUAL that came with your modem.

Then, to run Scripta, just type SCRIPTA<return> at the DOS command
prompt.

When you first enter Scripta, you will see the Modem Command Mode
screen. From here, you can 'talk' directly to your modem. To check
that Scripta is correctly set up, type AT<return> - the modem should
respond 'OK'.

From this screen, you can either run a script (.CMD file), by pressing
Alt/s, or call up your dialling directory by pressing Alt/d.

From the dialling directory, press <return> to dial a number and
then run its associated script; Tab just to run the script, or N
to dial a number and then proceed manually once connected.

Details of all available keys are given at the foot of the screen.

If you don't like the colours, of either the directory screen or the
pop-up dialling window then change them using these keys:

               F4 - Legends and field titles
               F5  - Text foreground
               F6  - Text background
               F7  - Frame foreground
               F8  - frame background
               F9  - Highlight bar foreground
               F10 - Highlight bar background

Other windows adopt the colours you select for the Dialling Directory
window.

You may use F5 and F6 to change the colours of the Command Mode screen.

I hope you enjoy using Scripta.
