Scripta is Shareware. This means that you can try it out for
fourteen days to see if it matches your requirements. If you
continue to use it after that period then there is a requirement
to pay for it.

Scripta is not crippled in any way, it is fully working Shareware.

This means that the author is placing complete trust in you the user
to pay for this product if you use it. Please maintain the author's
trust in human nature by registering Scripta if you continue to use
it after fourteen days.

Please feel free to give copies to friends or to upload Scripta to
Bulletin Boards or other online services. The only condition is that
Scripta may only be so distributed in its original form and in a
file named SCRnnn.xxx. The xxx may be ZIP, ARC, LZH, ARJ, etc.,
depending on the archive program you use to pack Scripta. The name
SCRnnn, where nnn is the version number, must not be changed. For
example, Scripta version 1.00 may only be distributed in files named
SCR100.xxx.

This document describes version 1.00 of Scripta. As the program is
brand new, I would appreciate any comments regarding usability or
facilities provision.

The only terminal emulation provided is ANSI-BBS. I am willing to be
convinced that others are desirable but the need would have to be
great, or at least commensurate with the work involved.

Supported File Transfer protocols are

                    Xmodem, Checksum and CRC
                    Xmodem-1k, Checksum and CRC
                    Xmodem-1k-G
                    Ymodem, single file and Batch
                    Ymodem-g, single file and Batch
                    Zmodem

Files may also be transferred as plain ASCII text or by external
protocol program.

Other protocols have been considered for inclusion but have been
omitted initially until need can be assessed. Those considered were
WXmodem, SuperKermit and Compuserve B.

In its simplest usage, Scripta allows you to dial and communicate
with other computers, bulletin boards and online services.

It allows you to maintain a dialling directory comprising up to
eighty subdirectories, each holding up to 200 telephone numbers.

Scripta is very easy to use. Whilst this may not be the impression
gained from a first reading of the documentation, it really is the
case.

Any description of a computer communications system will be of
necessity complicated in parts but Scripta allows you to proceed
with the minimum of knowledge. The script language is so powerful
that you will quickly learn a subset which will get you by in most
circumstances. In cases of real difficulty, call our Support Hotline.

Scripta Configuration has been designed so that you will be able to
use the system to call online services within a matter of minutes.

Most people will only need to alter a few items in Scripta
Configuration.
