Scripta Configuration is in four parts:

      1. Ports and Modems Data
      2. File Transfer Data
      3. ASCII Upload Data
      4. General Data

The main Configuration window allows you access to these four
sections, simply by pressing the number of the section you require.

At the main window, you may also select the following options:

            - default Virtual Port number. The default is 1 which
              points to COM1;

            - Maintain Call Journal (default Yes);

            - Beep on CONNECT (default Yes);

            - Initialise when DCD set (default Yes);

The default port number is the number of the Scripta Virtual Port
which is to be initialised when Scripta is first entered.

If 'Maintain Call Journal' is set to Yes then every telephone call made
via Scripta is logged to a file named SCRIPTA.JNL.

This is a plain ASCII file.

For each call made, a single line entry is appended to the file
containing the following information:

      - Name called
      - Number called
      - Virtual Port used
      - Date and time of connection: DD-MM-YYYY HH:MM:SS
      - Duration of the call: HH:MM:SS

If 'Beep on CONNECT' is set to Yes, Scripta causes your computer to
beep softly whenever connection is made to a dialled number.

DCD (Data Carrier Detect) is a signal emitted by your modem when
it is connected and therefore able to transmit data to a remote
computer.

Some modems emit this signal when first switched on, whether they
are connected or not.

If 'Initialise when DCD set' is set to Yes then Scripta will always
initialise the modem when the program is first entered. This means
that if the modem really is connected then the connection will be
lost.

If 'Initialise when DCD set' is set to No then Scripta will only
initialise the modem if DCD is not set. This means that any existent
connection will be maintained.
