Problem description:

Electrostatic problem - Microstrip Transmission Line
Capacitance.

A shielded microstrip transmission line consists of a
substrate, microstrip, and a shield. The strip is at
potential 1 V, and a shield is at zero potential.

Problem:

Determine capacitance of transmission line.

Material properties:

Epsilon of air                8.85e-12 F/m
Epsilon of Substrate          10*Epsilon(air);

The capacitance of the device can be calculated as
C = q / U.

ELCUT gives C = 186.4 pF/m.

Theoretical result: C = 178.1 pF/m.

This approach is provided in STRIP1.PBM.

The other approach is to assume the strip as having equal
but unknown potential carrying the charge and to measure the
potential, which arises on the strip. The approach is provided
in STRIP2.PBM. The result is C = 186.5 pF/m.
