*** Installing Landscape Explorer ***

This disk contains Landscape Explorer v1.00 in packed form. In order to
use this program, you will have to unpack and copy it to your harddisk. You
can either do this directly, or by using the install.bat file.

This installation does nothing odd. You'll probably have done the same
many times before. However to help you along the following describes the
steps you should take in rather pedantic detail.

---> If you wish to use the install do the following:-

From the dos prompt (if you are running Windows start up a DOS session by
double clicking on the 'MS-DOS Prompt' icon. This is usually found in the
'Main' group in program manager). Change to the diskette drive containing
the Landscape Explorer disk - thus if you have placed the disk in the A:
drive (the usual case) type

  A:

then enter the command

  SETUP C:

This will install Landscape Explorer in a directory named LAND on
the harddisk partition C:. You may enter a different partition than C: if
required.

Once the install has completed return to windows either by typing 'Exit'
at the prompt (if you ran the install from within a windows DOS window) or
typing win. See the heading 'Running Landscape Explorer' below for details
about getting started.

---> If you wish to install the program directly do the following:

Using either file manager or the DOS mkdir command create a suitable
directory to hold Landscape Explorer on your harddisk (usually the
C: drive). Again either from File Manager of the DOS prompt copy the
Land100.exe file to this new directory and run the program (type
'land100' if in DOS or double click on the file icon if using File
Manager) The file will unpack and once complete you can delete the
land100.exe file.

---> Running Landscape Explorer

You can either run the program directly from File Manager by double
clicking on the land.exe icon in the installed directory (land if you
used install.bat) or install the program in a windows group. I'd
recommend the latter - especially as I was rather pleased with the
program icon!

To install the program in a windows group first make the group to which
you wish to install the icon active by opening it or clicking on it if
already open. Then open the program manager and go to the New... item
in the File menu. Click on OK, then enter 'Landscape Explorer' in the
Description box and c:\land\land.exe in the Command Line box (assuming
you used the install.bat file, substitute the appropriate directory if
you did otherwise or click on the 'Browse' button).

If you have difficulties this is the standard 'create program item for
an application' procedure described in chapter 3 (Program Manager) of the
Windows 3.1 manual under the heading 'Working with Program Items'.

---> System Requirements

Landscape Explorer needs at least the following hardware to work properly:

- IBM AT or higher, having at least 2 MB RAM free for Windows

- Colour Graphics resolution of at least 640x400 pixels, 16 colors (VGA
