            rulebase Expert System Version 2.0

An Expert System is a computer program for capturing valuable
knowledge and delivering it to where it is needed.
Knowledge is set up as Rules to form the Knowledge Base for
the Expert System.
A non-expert consults an Expert System with a problem in much
the same way as a human expert would be consulted, using a
question and answer technique whereby the Expert System asks
questions and the non-expert responds. The Knowledge Base is
kept separate by the Expert System to allow it's knowledge to
be updated independently from the rest of the system.

Rulebase is an Expert Systems Toolkit that can be used to set
up either simple knowledge bases making it ideal for
introductory courses, or with it's advanced features to
develop specific applications.

System Requirements

rulebase can be supplied on either a 3.5" or 5.25" disk.
It will run on any IBM compatible system supporting CGA
graphics or better, with 512K bytes or more of memory.
It can be used from a floppy disk although some of the more
advanced features are only practicable with a hard disk.

Installing rulebase on a hard disk

Switch on your computer system as normal and put your
rulebase distribution disk into your floppy disk drive
  (normally drive A:).
At the systems prompt (C:> or similar).
  Type:
          md rulebase <enter>
          cd rulebase <enter>
          copy a:*.* <enter>

Repeat the above instructions if rulebase has been supplied
on more than one low density disk.

Installing rulebase on dual floppy disk drives

If you intend to use the program from a floppy disk it is
important to make a working copy of your distribution disk.
Always use the copy and keep the original in a safe place in
  case you ever need it.
  Write protect your distribution disk.

Firstly format a new disk as follows:
Switch on your computer system as normal using a "system
  disk" in drive A:.
Put your new disk in drive B: and type:
          b: <enter>
          format <enter>

When the format is complete (after replying 'N' to the
prompt "Format another (Y/N)?") put your rulebase
distribution disk in Drive drive A:.
  Type:
          copy a:*.* <enter>

Keep the distribution disk in a safe place and use your
  working copy of rulebase

Repeat the above instructions if rulebase has been supplied
on more than one low density disk.
