9 Conclusion

I would definitly go for the new ASUS-486-PCI-SP3G-Board with the saturn-chipset rev. 4. and the PCI-ATI-GUP Mach32 with 2M VRAM. There already seems to be a linkkit vor xfree86(tm)-3.1 with mach64-server available but I do not know when this will be a safe and convenient thing to use. (ask davem@eden.rutgers.edu about that)

Someone stated that most of the problems the ASUS-SP3 with saturn chipset rev. 2 had, would disappear when disabling "sync negotiation" on the adaptec-scsi-controller, but nowadays one would use the onboard NCR53c810-driver anyway. So whatever board you buy, you should get one with the NCR53c810-SCSI-chip on board. It is unbeatable in it's price/speed.
