Ispell is an interactive spell checker that suggests "near misses" as
replacements for unrecognized words.  System and user-maintained
dictionaries can be used.

Ispell is available via anonymous ftp from ftp.cs.ucla.edu in the directory
/pub/ispell.

Some people may notice that ispell 4 is not at this site---ispell 3 is.
The version numbering for this program has been screwy---it doesn't mean
that we're using an older version of ispell.  Ispell 3 and 4 were
maintained in parallel, but version 3 is actually much more advanced.  We
decided to switch to it.

Eventually ispell 3 will support a GNU-style configuration script to make
it a little easier to build.
