NO SOUND Release: 1.01 Date: 7 December 1992 Copyright (C) 1991, 1992 David T. Chappell All Rights Reserved The programs included are shareware. Feel free to make copies and pass them out to friends and BBSs as long as no fee is charged, the programs are not modified in any way, and this notice is not changed or removed. INTRODUCTION ============ Lots of programs for PCs use the internal speaker to play sound. Occasionally, one of these programs will have an error and will quit execution while leaving an annoying tone playing on the speaker. These programs will stop any current sounds by resetting all speaker-related chips to their power-on values. The NoSound programs will NOT prevent other programs from starting new sounds. INCLUDED FILES ============== NOSOUND.EXE Version 1.10 for DOS Turns off internal speaker under DOS; also works under DOS box of OS/2. NOSOUND2.EXE Version 1.00 for OS/2 (16-bit) Turns off internal speaker under OS/2; runs in either window or full-screen session. Works with 1.x and 2.x versions of OS/2. USAGE ===== To run each program, type the filename (omitting the extension) at the command prompt. There are no command-line switches. CONCLUSION ========== I have also written a general-purpose digitized sound player that runs on all PCs. If you are interested in a complete package of sound programs, write for more information. Various programs are available on Internet via anonymous ftp at garfield.catt.ncsu.edu. If you find any case where these programs do not work correctly, please tell me. Supply all details of the situation, and I shall try to fix the problem. If you use these sound programs and find them interesting, a donation in any amount ($5 suggested) will be greatly appreciated. If you send a donation, I shall send you the latest copy of the software (specify disk size). Please make checks in U.S. dollars payable to David T. Chappell. Ray Duncan's book _Advanced_OS/2_Programming_ helped a lot with OS/2 development. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or donations, please contact: David T.
