LETWIN1.ZIP contains the WINDOWS HELP
text only version of LETTERS HOME: A WAR
MEMOIR (Europe 1944-1945), by John C.
Ausland. It begins with his landing on
Utah Beach on D-Day, carries him through
a number of battles to south of Munich,
and ends with him on his way to the
invasion of Japan. The thread that holds
the book together is his letters to his
parents. It also, however, represents
considerable research, including in the
National Archives. One reviewer described
it as "a beautiful and very moving piece
of writing." To read it, enter LETTERS.HLP
at the Windows RUN prompt. (If you do not
like to read it on the screen, you can
easily print the chapters.)
