        Go Ahead And Do It!

You're looking through the classified ads and
you come across the one that reads "For Sale: Oak
chest of drawers, must sell, $25, call 555-1234".

You know you could use a chest of drawers for the
baby's room. You see the price jump out at you...$25!
You see the phone, you want to call but then you don't.
WHY NOT? It's probably old and beat up you say. It
probably isn't oak anyway. In fact, it's most likely
contact-paper over pressboard. No doubt it's missing
some hardware as well and the drawers have become unglued.
I'm sure you can come up with lots more good excuses.

The bottom line here is fear. Fear of being taken.
And because of that, look what you're going to do
instead... Since you can't afford the $450 for a new oak
chest of drawers, you're going to go to K-mart and get the
contact paper covered pressboard type for $119!

It doesn't have to be that way! I bought a used outboard
motor for my little boat. New ones cost anywhere from $400 to
$1500. I got mine for $175. I saw the man demonstrate it
in a barrel of water at his home. It worked fine.
I brought it back to my boat. I started it up. It ran
fine...for thirty seconds! What was the problem?

Each time I would run it, the motor only worked for
thirty seconds and then nothing. I went to the library and
found a book on outboard motors. I read the troubleshooting
section... "make sure you have the air intake open as well
as the fuel valve. Be sure the fuel filter is clean..."

It took five minutes to figure out my problem, I needed air
to combust with the fuel. I turned a little knob on the fuel
cap and it has run great ever since.

So now I know something about boat motors. Go ahead and get
the chest of drawers. It's a bargain in any condition. Besides,
you might learn something about furniture.
