HELP FOR NEW USERS - WELCOME TO NameTracK!
          ==========================================

A short lesson in NameTracK's operating system will have you
up and running very quickly.

You are currently in the PULL-DOWN MENU MODE, which allows
you to access all the NameTracK functions. Simply use the
arrow keys to position the highlighted bar on the desired
choice, and then Press ENTER (aka RETURN) to access your
selection. You can also enter the first letter of any item
in the active Pull Down Menu to perform the required opera-
tion. (ie. when at the top of the reports menu, Press [M] to
activate the Mail-merge feature.)

By using the arrow keys to highlight and then select each
item, your learning curve should be short and gentle. The
keystroke combinations designated on the highlighted bar are
informational only, for those of you who prefer to operate
directly while in the MAIN OPERATING MODE.

The MAIN OPERATING MODE is the first screen that appears
when you load NameTracK into your computers memory. (i.e.
showing [nnn of Records in File...<Database.DBF>] in the
lower left corner of screen) For command line users, most of
NameTracK's features can be accessed directly from the MAIN
OPERATING MODE with one or two keystrokes. Each of the Key-
stroke combinations are fully outlined when you Press the
[F1] Help key from the MAIN OPERATING MODE.

To return to the MAIN OPERATING MODE from the PULL-DOWN MENU
MODE, press the ESCape key twice (ESC ESC) From the MAIN
OPERATING MODE, Press the [F2] key to ADD NEW RECORDS. Then,
follow the prompts and enter your Name & Address information
in the appropriate fields. There MUST be a character in the
first TITLE field, or the information entered will not be
saved. To EXIT the ADD RECORDS MODE, when you are finished
adding records simply press the [PgDn] key with no char-
acter in the TITLE field, and you will be returned to the
MAIN OPERATING MODE. The last record entered will then be
visible. You can EDIT this record or any other displayed
record by pressing [E] or [F3]. Press the [Home] key while
on any record to go to the top of the database. (1st record)
The [Home] key is also used to clear any previous commands
and conditions employed while using NameTracK's advanced
features, and will reset the database to default status.

Once you have more than 1 record in the database, you can
Page Up and Down through the database rapidly by simply
pressing the [PgDn] or [PgUp] keys. The [Up] and [Down]
Arrow keys, and the [-] and [+] keys provide the same
functions as the [PgUp] and [PgDn] keys.

After you have entered new Names, they will immediately be
available for speed access by LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, COMPANY
NAME or RECORD NUMBER. (i.e. Press [N] to search by NAME,
and then enter the 1st few characters of the desired Name at
the prompt, and press RETURN. NameTracK will instantly go to
the record you requested.

However, to display or produce printed reports of the names
in alphabetical order, you will have to perform an Indexing
/ Sort Routine. Press [F5] or [I] while on any record, and
NameTracK will begin the process of organizing your Database.
You can even choose to have the primary database arranged by
Company Name or by Zip Code. The default configuration is to
have all the databases arranged chronilogically and alpha-
betically by Last Name. The Indexing / Sort routine should
be performed periodically to organize your data, and to per-
manently remove records that you have marked for deletion.

Once you are familiar with NameTracK's basic commands, you
can review all the various advanced functions and their
keystrokes by pressing the [F1] key from the MAIN OPERATING
MODE.

To select a new default database, (a database that will
always load upon startup) access the SETUP DEFAULTS item
from the PULL-DOWN MENU system, or press [Alt S] while on
record number 1. Many other system parameters can also be
changed from the SETUP DEFAULTS Menu.

NameTracK's KEY feature enables you to condition any data-
base to access only the records you want. Records can be
selected by your own codes, or by Occupation, Address, City,
State, or Zip Code Range. Once the database is KEYED,
(conditioned to your requests) you can Display or Print
Reports, Letters, or Labels, or you can create a new data-
base comprised of only the records you want. Press [K] or
[F4] to activate the KEY feature.

There are many powerful features incorporated into NameTracK
that are not readily apparent. However, with use of the
basics you will inevetably find and use them all for easy
and productive management of your large and small databases.
Some users have reported consistent successful use of
NameTracK with databases having in excess of 100,000 records.

For Windows or OS/2 users, NameTracK can be configured to
run in multiple windows at the same time, with different
databases, colors or other parameters.

For advanced users, NameTracK is also available in a Network
Ready Multi-User version. For more information, press [B]
from the MAIN OPERATING MODE.
