Qualifications/ Background:

Jon Postel is the Associate Director for Networking of the HPCC
Division of the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) of the University
of Southern California (USC).

Jon has been involved in the development of computer communication
protocols and applications from the early days of the ARPANET.

Jon was the editor of many of the protocol specifications basic to the
Internet including IP, TCP, Telnet, and SMTP.

He currently is a member of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB), and
servers as the RFC Editor.

His current interests are include multimachine internetwork
applications, multimedia conferencing, very large networks, and very
high speed communications.

Jon received a BS and MS in Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science
from the University of California, Los Angeles.
