Classic Video Games Index
http://users.colloquium.co.uk/~fraser_gj/page3.htmA page dedicated to all that is late 1970s and early 1980s. The video game revolution touched the hearts of many of us and the beeps of Galaga and chomping of Pacman makes me feel nostalgic. Broken into six zones, The Classic Video Games Index provides shareware or freeware PC clone games of past favorites: Defender, Frogger, Space Invaders, Q-bert, and the like. Many related links are also available. Love the Comic Sans font.
Classic Video Games Nexus

Units such as Pong, Atari, Intellivision, and Colecovision are attended to. There is some Coin-operated info, but the TV units dominate here. Computer Gaming World's Dark Forces Tips
http://www.zdnet.com/gaming/print/9506/features/doc2.htmlOne of my beefs about Dark Forces is that you can't save your spot during the game and since the fourteen levels are so big, it's frustrating to have to start all over-even if you're near the end. Thank Heavens Computer Gaming World magazine (one of the world's leading authorities on computers games) has provided helpful hints and strategies to beat the game by Jason Kapalka. Select which mission you're having difficulty with and it'll bring you to the appropriate help page along with screen shots.
Craig's Unofficial Abuse Website
http://members.tripod.com/~ABUSE/Craig's site offers news, levels, FAQs, cheats, shareware, and links-all related to Crack Dot Com's smash game Abuse. The success of this side-scrolling game came as a surprise considering most computer action titles use the first-person 3D perspective engine. Lots to download and read here if you're a fan of the game or want to see if you are.

Duke Nukem 3D Page at Gamelords.com
http://www.gamelords.com/Part of the terrific Gamelords Web site now (see the mega-sites chapter), it isn't often that a page can actually contribute to the appreciation of an existing game. However, visiting Damian August Holmberg's frames-happy fan site breathes new life into an already awesome action game. There are literally hundreds of worthy all-inclusive Duke Nukem 3D sites around the globe but few have managed to offer what is found here. This Web site is as rich in content as it is in design. A chat group, level maps, and a boundless library of add-ons to really get more bang out of your buck are available.
Dark Forces Cosy Nook
http://userwww.service.emory.edu/~anoviko/nook.htmlA very cozy Web page designed to give its visitors Dark Forces goodies. Editors, converters, and other utilities are available for download to create new levels, characters, and backgrounds in your existing Lucas Arts Star Wars game. Links to related sites around the globe are also offered.
Dark Forces GOBs Page
http://www.pncl.co.uk/%7Eidries/dark_f.htmlSince Dark Forces doesn't support multi-player play (hiss, boo!), at least there are some creative folks out there making their own levels and refining the ones given with the original game. This page provides the utilities to make your own GOBs (levels like Doom WADS, Warcraft PUDs...) and gives away a few too.

Dark Forces Homepage, The
http://www.best.com/~dalton/DarkForces/This is probably the most popular Dark Forces Web site on the Net, with more than a quarter of a million hits and counting. Everything is here, including custom-made levels (and editors to make your own), screen shots, news, sound clips, cheat codes, FAQs, Mac files, and affiliated links. Also noted are enemy, weapons, and item pictures with descriptions. Visit the related Dark Forces Newsgroup at alt.games.dark-forces or visit the official site at the Lucas Arts http://www.lucasarts.com/.
Dark Forces Midi Page
http://www.tiac.net/users/carr/darkmidi.htmYou know a game is well done when you're whistling the tunes well after turning off the computer. Or when a theme song played during a game pumps you up to a point where you're ready to blow up anything in your way. You know anything to do with Star Wars has good tuneage, so why not collect and play the songs when you're surfing the Web? This page houses almost fifty midi tunes from the game broken up into handy levels and enemies. If time isn't on your side, download a zipped-up version of all forty-six tunes available in one whole swoop (only 490KB!).
Dark Forces Page, The
http://www.wpi.edu/~ss/DF_index.htmlFans of the Star Wars universe and Lucas Art's Dark Forces (DF) alike retreat to this site, featuring a walkthrough, speech upgrades, editors, patches, art packs, and other miscellaneous information. The Web design is very frugal but the neat DF utilities make it a beneficial stay. The hypertext version 2.6 of the FAQ deserves recognition. It's compiled and maintained by Karsten A. Loepelmann.
Dark Forces WDFUSE Home Page
http://www.ping.be/~ping4087/wdfuse.htmWDFUSE is a Windows-based editor exclusively designed for creating new Dark Forces worlds. Besides downloading the program, this Web page discusses features and tips in using WDFUSE along with updates, news, and other related utilities. To save time and frustration, check out the known problems and bugs area before diving into WDFUSE.
Death of the Duke Page, The
http://152.160.53.241/Duke/A very different Duke Nukem 3D tribute site specializing in midi tunes and the "first and largest automated player listings". Grab Duke other utilities and editors, maps, RTS and CON files while you listen to thirty-+ Duke songs available on the sidebar jukebox. Nice dark feel to this page.
Definitive Duke Nukem 3D DukeMatch Repository, The
http://nukem.apk.net/The folks here take their Duke 3D multi-player gaming SERIOUSLY. What they offer to you, for free, are the absolute finest DukeMatch maps that the Duke community has to offer-they will not post a DukeMatch map on their site that doesn't meet the highest of standards. Let's face it-there are tons of places on the Net to grab DukeMatch user maps, but it's good to know there's some discretion out there (I've seen some pretty bad levels). Try out BlockWar, Trenches, and City @ War.
Descendarium: An Illustrated Guide to Descent I & II
http://www.gamesdomain.com/moonglow/No stone has been left unturned while creating this colorful and often animated guide to one of the best PC action games to date. Parallax Software and Interplay have taken Doom's 3D engine to new heights by implementing a complete six-degree-of-freedom rotation to your spacecraft (up, down, right, left, or complete somersaults front, or back). Joerg Riebert's Descendarium is a very good supplement to Descent and Descent II and contains: secret and bonus levels, cheat codes, strategies, screen shots, downloadable demos and much more. A very modern and useful site.
Descent 2: Vertigo Overload
http://www.atw.fullfeed.com/~jkrutke/des-main.htmThis is a 21-gun salute to Parallax and Interplay's computer action title, Descent 2. Download the demo, video clips, cheat codes, or view gameplay screenshots, words from the authors, features, and links. A page on music from the game is also highlighted. Nice animation and graphics at this site.

Digital Nostalgia
http://www.umich.edu/~Webspin/games/Marc Sakey's award-winning page was created as a high-tech memory lane, a moment of digital nostalgia. Game console emulators such as Commodore 64, Atari, or Colecovision are given for your PC, or download and play the best clones for arcade classics. Try out excellent remakes of Donkey Kong, Dig Dug, Galaxian, MS Pacman, Lunar Lander and more. A tutorial on how to zip and unzip a game is offered here for beginners. This Web page also has a hearty Links section to related sites around the Web or check out the cool utilities available like Mo'Slo (to slow down older games that just cook on your current Pentium!). All in all, a great page for us Generation Xers that have a sentimental slant toward arcade games and early TV console systems.
DMU Duke Nukem 3D Page
http://www.cms.dmu.ac.uk/~hc2jb/Duke.htmlNice-looking frames-enhanced Web site dedicated to all that is Duke. The knockout game of the year gets more royal treatment with strategy tips, screen shots, news, and neat downloadables: the shareware game, patches, editors, FAQs, user custom-built maps, and other utilities. There's also a cool links section and message area.
Don's Hexen Pages
http://www2.awinc.com/users/dgronlun/hexen/hexen.htmlA more graphically impressive site than The Wacky Hexen Page, and it probably has more hits than John Olerud! Don's fan site is also a contender for the most comprehensive assortment of Hexen files and add-ons found anywhere. This gorgeous Web page, along with Don's own Duke Nukem 3D site (http://www2.awinc.com/users/dgronlun/duke3d/duke3d.html), continues to serve as a template for many other successful personal gaming pages. There are access hints, walkthroughs, stats, inventory and beastiary guides, WADS, e-mail, FAQs, links, and a guestbook.

Doom I, II, Heretic, Hexen, Duke3D, and Dark Forces Page
http://www.techline.com/~musickl/nigel.htmOK, so the name of this Web page isn't too creative, but there is quite a lot to get here. There are other games than those listed above that also have informative cheat codes and hacks: Quake, Descent I and II, and Warcraft II. Although extra levels were mentioned-I couldn't seem to find out quite where they were!? A nice-looking page never-the-less, with cool graphics from the various 3D action games.

Duke Nukem 3D Rodeo Shootout
http://www.cyberrodeo.com/duke/The Rodeo Steakhouse restaurant/bar in downtown Fort Worth, Texas has been attracting quite a crowd lately and it ain't for their beef. It so happens they now house the CyberRodeo-a place to surf the Net and chow down. This Web site is dedicated to the networked multi-player competitions between eight Duke Nukem 3D players. These DukeMatch battles occur every few months and carry a complete itinerary including food, drinks for all, and hefty prizes for the winners. View photos from past competitions or download the user map used for the fight. Sponsors include 3D Realms Entertainment (the folks who brought you Duke Nukem 3D) and TEN (the exclusive carrier of Duke Nukem 3D on their Internet-based gaming network). A cool idea and Web page...let's face it, what goes better with Duke than beer and steak?!

Duke Nukem on the Wildman Rudeboy Website
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jonathan_wildman/duke.htmThis is Jonathan Wildman's answer to the 3D Realms game Duke Nukem 3D. There are over sixteen departments here, such as "Doom vs Duke: The Dispute Continues," "The DukeMatchers Forum," user maps and RTS sound files, and links to official Duke Nukem news, FAQs, and the Aapogee live-cam. There are a few of Wildman's own user maps to choose from, as well (including Neighborhood Rumble and Oasis of Chaos). As the Duke says, "Come Get Some!".
Duke Nukem RTS Distribution Site
http://www.cyberhighway.net/~srogers/duke/index.htmlThis specialty Web site's name says it all-an archived collection of RTS sound files to use with your Duke Nukem 3D or Rise of the Triad games. RTS files, or Remote Ridicule Files, were designed by Aapogee in 1995 when Rise of the Triad was released. They are used to ridicule your opponent during multi-player gaming, and it has become quite an art to create your very own RTS sound bytes. If you think yours are good enough, you may want to upload or exchange files with your online peers here. The hundreds of free RTS's are well organized for your indulgence.
Duke Versus Duke
http://w3.gwis.com/~doomboy/Put up your Dukes! This is Doomboy and Roland's Duke Nukem 3D page providing DukeMatch and single-player maps to download and try out. I like the idea of them having a separate icon for solo play or multi-player games, because I know from experience about craving a great single-player game in the middle of the night but having a directory with the games all mixed in together. There's nothing worse than starting a new user level and finding out you're the only one in the game! Cool maps with descriptions.
Earth Academy

The 'Mech Lab is just that-downloadable *.mek Mechwarrior 2 or Ghost Bear's Legacy designs complete with screen shots, specifications and mission suggestions. The Tie that Binds continues the adventures of Kyle Katurn, the hero from the Dark Forces CD-ROM game, in which the outcome is based on your choices as the hero. Crow Calls contains news bulletins, a Top Ten add-on level area, and letters from the editor. An unconventional and virtuous site for DF fans.

Tribute to Duke
http://duke.intersphere.com/A very funny tongue-in-cheek look at how Duke Nukem 3D has infiltrated our current pop culture. Besides having the regular files available at many other pages (demos, maps, utilities), this site poses Duke as a presidential candidate, one of the Beatles, riding the wave of Hurricane Fran, an Olympic Gold winner, a disco dancer, and taking part in our favorite movies and TV shows (The Duke of Hazzard!?). The many animations, sound clips, doctored pictures, and amusing articles are good for a laugh-any Duke fan should definitely NOT miss this Web page. An off-the-wall, creative, and entertaining site brought to you by Team Duke (a.k.a. Mark Farish, Jeffrey Erb, and Mike Oryl at Intersphere Communications Ltd.).

Void, The
http://www.citicom.com/~jpratt/index2.htmlThe Void is a framed, dark Web site catering to the 3D action fan. Games such as Blood, Strife, and Unreal are the topic of discussion here, but this site mainly acts as a springboard to the various 3D game manufacturer sites, as well as other fan-related links. It seems that quite a few of this page's hot-linked icons were not set up while I was on my travels, as they did not serve any particular function. Perhaps when construction has been completed, there will be enough here to warrant another visit.
Wacky Hexen Page, The
