CHANGES from BETA v1.3

        1. Choice of compression methods
        2. Fixed GPF bug in sound code

        Compression Notes:

The Advanced Configuration screen now allows the selection
of "Normal" compression or "Hi" compression. Changing
this will not affect a currently active call, but will
affect any calls made after the configuration is
saved. "Hi" compression requires at least a Pentium
                or possibly a fast 486 with a math-coprossesor. This
requirement will probably change in the future as
the code is optimized and tweaked.
When two copies of InterPhone attempt to connect with
different compression settings they will automatically
connect with the setting of the caller.
Also, it is possible to have multiple calls using
                different compression modes.

==========================================================================

Note: BETA v1.3 is a release to the general public.
        Expiration Date: 12/31/96

==========================================================================

CHANGES from BETA v1.2

        1. No more restrictions on call domains
        2. Multiple phone books

==========================================================================

CHANGES from BETA v1.1

        1. Improved load and save times
        2. Directory service based on region

        Directory Notes:

The "Information" button in the Configuration screen
displays a list box of regions (mostly states) and an
unlisted option. The unlisted option prevents you from
showing up in someone elses phonebook through a
                directory request.

The "Information" button in the PhoneBook section has
changed function. Previously it simply looked up the
current entries in the program's phone book, and then
updated those entries' information. Now the button will
switch to a screen with a list of regions. You simply
select the region you wish to query, and the program
fills your phone book with all the users registered in
that region (unless they're unlisted). You can also
select to simple update the current entries in your
                phone book.

I've included in the region list all fifty states plus
Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia,
                and Australia.

==========================================================================

CHANGES from BETA v1.0

        1. Full Duplex support added
        2. Added auto detect for 16-8 bit sound
        3. Moved all settings to PHONE.INI
        4. Faster graphics code

        Full Duplex Notes:

Full Duplex allows the phone program to transmit and
recieve at the same time, as opposed to Half Duplex
which only allows one at a time. This makes the
conversation far more like a real phone call.

In order to have full duplex conversations your sound
                card must support it.

Most SoundBlaster 16 bit cards under Windows95
are capable and the appropriate drivers can be
downloaded from Creative Lab's web site:

                http://www.creaf.com/wwwnew/tech/ftp/ftp-sb16awe.html

                For Windows95: sbw95up.exe

See your sound card documentation for more info.

Note: If the programs detects that Full Duplex is
not possible, it will automatically switch to
                Half Duplex.

Note: Technical Support by Email only, no phone support.

As in all BETA test copies, we expect there to be a few bugs,
and if you do manage to break it or spot something wrong or fishy,
we would consider it a great favor if you could email us at:

        bug_reports@InterPhone.com

Try to remember as many details concerning the problem as you can.
We'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

Note: We will also be taking general suggestions, such as
things you like or don't like, etc.

==========================================================================

Hardware Requirements:

486-33 or above
Sound Blaster Compatible card
14400 Modem or above

Note: 28800 Baud Modem HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, basically because in this
version, 14400 is not quite there yet (in other words, with 14400 you
could expect a lot of pauses and breaks).

==========================================================================

This BETA copy contains the following restrictions:

        1. An expiration date of 12/31/1996 after which the program

Note: The program will exit with an error message

Also you must have a Sound Blaster Compatable card
           installed in your machine.

==========================================================================

Main Window:

The programs main window consist of several different subsections.
Along the left side of the window are the buttons that select
        these.

The line buttons and connection buttons at the bottom behave
similarly to a standard office phone.

The connect button makes a call on an open line with the
        entered information.

The redial button makes a call with the same entries as
        the previous attempt.

The disconnect button closes an active line and ends the call.

The buttons on the right side are specific to each subsection
of the program. These change according to the setting of
buttons on the left side of the main window.

==========================================================================

Program SubSections:

One Touch Dial:

This feature provides nine programmable buttons that allow
a single mouse click to connect to a user. Using the buttons
        on the right, you can:

Assign: Enter user information to configure the next
        free touch dial button.

Remove: Free a touch dial button for use.

        Reset All: Clear all buttons.

Phone Book:

Provides a list of users that can be called by double clicking
an entry in the list. Using the buttons on the right you can:

Add: Add a new entry to the list.

Edit: Edit a selected entry in the list.

Remove: Delete an item from the list.

Information: This function communcates with the Myriad Phone
server and tells you which users in your list are currently
        on-line and available for connection.

Messages:

Provides a list of messages from other users. Double clicking
on a message displays its contents. Using the buttons on
        the right, you can:

Delete: Remove a message from the list.

Call Back: Attempt to connect to the sender.

Configuration:

This is divided into two sections.

The "Standard Configuration" is essentially your personal
information. User Name (Email address), real name,
        and fixed ip (optional).

The "Advanced Configuration" allows you to set various options
        including:

Microphone Sensitivity: The arrow below the volume meter
can be adjusted to make the microphone input more or less
sensitive in order to account for the level of ambient room
        noise.

Auto Answer: Selecting this option will cause the program to
automatically answer any incomming call after 5 seconds.
Note: If you currently using another line the auto answer
function will be disabled and will not interrupt you by
        answering an incomming call.

Auto Log On: This will cause the program to register itself
with the Myriad Phone Server. This is nessarsary for other
users to connect to you using only your email address. If
you have a fixed IP users can connect to without using the
server. The server also allows others to see you as being
online. Logging on the server is also nessasary to retrieve
any messages that might be waiting for you from other users.
Note: You can register with server at any time by pressing
"Save" in the configuration screen. The server will store
        up to ten pending messages.

Ask to leave message: If a call times out, and this is
selected, the program will ask you if you want to leave
a message to the user you were attempting to dial. If you
do leave a message, the next time that user logs on to the
server, your message will appear in thier message list.

Line Buttons:

Clicking on a line button opens that line
and opens a window to enter the information concerning the
user that you want to connect to. After entering this, you
can either hit connect, or click disconnect to cancel the call.
Clicking a line button a second time closes that line.

After the line connects, clicking it again places the call
on hold. Clicking a line on hold, opens it again.

When a line button is ringing, clicking on it answers the
        incomming call.

You can have many lines on hold, however, only one can be
        active at a time.
