STATUS for "Viper X Server Development Team" Oct. 20 1993

We are in the beginning phases of this project. I don't expect we'll have
any useable X P9000 Server for months to come, but we presently can share
what we've learned so far, and provide some pointers to documentation
on Viper programming.

We may have a color W5186 SVGA driver in a month (we'd like to, anyhow).

Erik Nygren has written a mono Xserver for the W5186.

We welcome dedicated programmers to join us, and solicit volunteers for
a beta testing list.

Accomplished:

	gathered available data sheets on viper board chips.

	obtained "Diamond viper programmers kits"

	agreed on a preliminary "charter"

	discussed NDA's, copyrights, proprietary info. handling...

	Obtained ftp site for our use.

	uploaded 5186 mono VGA driver code

Our current activities:

reading documentation and sample code.

Reading up on XFree86

Trying to get started on one or some of the following
	clock setting s/w
	simple color vga (W5186) driver
	frame buffer based P9000 driver.
