I know that the FAQ says that the acceleration hardware for this card
is not used, but I was wondering if anyone has gotten the acceleration
to work, and the FAQ just doesn't reflect it yet?

thanks,

I was 13 (maybe I was 12 when I tested a demo linux 0.95a floppy which didn't

I installed it all by my self (and managed to destroy my dos partition :)

The version was something like 0.98.1 if I remember correctly.

Seems like a damn shame to have a Windoze version and no Linux X

I don't know why anyone hasn't thought of this before, but YIH doesn't
somebody write a HTML which Linux supporters would access, hit one

Before I receive dozens of mails saying that the bug wasn't in the
OS... The bug was in `sendmail', not in the kernel. However, the OS
is the kernel + <basic tools to get the system working> (and this is
according to quite a few textbooks I read). Whether sendmail may or
may not be included in that set is a matter of opinion.

   | that's the rstate

rstate Define the run level in which this entry is to be
processed. Run-levels effectively correspond to a
configuration of processes in the system. That
is, each process spawned by init is assigned a run
level(s) in which it is allowed to exist. The run
levels are represented by a number ranging from 0
through 6. For example, if the system is in run
level 1, only those entries having a 1 in the
               rstate field are processed.

When init is requested to change run levels, all
processes that do not have an entry in the rstate
field for the target run level are sent the warn-
ing signal SIGTERM and allowed a 5-second grace
period before being forcibly terminated by the
kill signal SIGKILL. The rstate field can define
multiple run levels for a process by selecting
more than one run level in any combination from 0
through 6. If no run level is specified, then the
process is assumed to be valid at all run levels 0
               through 6.

There are three other values, a, b and c, which
can appear in the rstate field, even though they
are not true run levels. Entries which have these
characters in the rstate field are processed only
when an init or telinit process requests them to
be run (regardless of the current run level of the
system). See init(1M). These differ from run

levels in that init can never enter run level a, b
or c. Also, a request for the execution of any of
these processes does not change the current run
level. Furthermore, a process started by an a, b
or c command is not killed when init changes lev-
els. They are killed only if their line in init-
tab is marked off in the action field, their line
is deleted entirely from inittab, or init goes
               into single-user state.

Several people reported problems in getting Drews NCR-SCSI-driver running

One reported, that using older or newer versions gets the driver working
without problems. I myself hope, one of the gurus (Drew himself?) will
find out a fix - I have a ASUS PCI DX2-66 board working fine with linux
- apart from the SCSI-driver.

So dont swap Simms or jumpers - just change the bios or wait...

Hi all,
I've been having lots of problems with sendmail. We've installed the
latest version of sendmail+IDA (v.5.76b) on a machine running 1.09 of
the Linux kernel. When we try to send mail to ourself on the
machine it bounces around. The same thing happens when we try to
send mail to the Linux box from another host. When I checked the
/var/adm/messages file, we see that sendmail reports an I/O error.
Has anyone else come across this, or better yet, does anyone know
what's wrong? We've check over the sendmail.cf file several times and
it looks fine. We tried using sendmail8.6.9 (compiled from the
source) and we still got the same problem. The weird part about the
whole thing is that mail worked fine before we installed sendmail.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
