There is RIPTerm for DOS, and there may be a Mac version also. Take a

Amen. This thread started with a legitimate concern a real user had about
his disk getting infected and messing up his linux files. Then some self-
proclaimed expert thinks he has to belittle others to prove his point,
which wasn't much of a contribution to the discussion, and probably made
the previous guy mad. Well, Mr. Marcus, you can chalk up another one.

No this isn't correct.
Try the lmscd-0.3.tar.gz package. You can get it from tsx-11 in .../ALPHA/cdrom.
You have to do the kernel-patches by hand, but it should work.

Note: that the drive you want add a mbr to has to be C: when you do the
fdisk /mbr. I keep a dos boot floppy with fdisk on it for just such
such occasions.

Actually, around drives sell better if you install a recent bootable
version of linux on them rather than dos.

I have used the Adaptec 1542A controller in Linux since the 1542 driver
came out. Have a CD-ROM, tape, disk on the system and all works well
I use all the default settings. Wonder if you have a IRQ conflict,
or a conflict with VIDEO memory. Some of the early SVGA cards wanted
some of the adapter memory. Wish I could give you more help,
but at least you know the driver is _not_ the problem.

This sounds a whole lot like emacs to me. :-)

Has anyone considered adding the neccessary WYSIWYG features to one of
the popular versions of emacs, like mabey lucid? This way we could
keep the Real Hackers happy, as well as have a good editior for the
masses. Mabey offer a package to convert the keys to WP or MSWord
