First of all, they are sold primarily through manufacturers' reps. I have appended a list of representatives for various territories to the end of this message. Note that these reps are primarily for the United States; I'll try to get a list of international reps as soon as I can. In the meantime, non-US customers should call one of these reps anyway; they may have overseas operations or otherwise be able to serve you. As for which flavor of the motherboard to buy: currently you need the SRM firmware to run Linux/Alpha. Our replacement "miniloader" firmware is nearly ready and should be released within a couple of weeks. Near as I can tell, you cannot buy an AXPpci/33 motherboard with the SRM firmware without also buying Digital UNIX or OpenVMS (at substantial additional cost). If you can convince your vendor to sell you the motherboard with SRM but without an operating system, great! If you can't, then what you should do is purchase the motherboard with the Windows NT firmware and then replace it. The part number for the AXPpci/33 motherboard with NT firmware is: EBP20-BA For those who are impatient, the SRM firmware is available as a firmware upgrade kit from: ftp.dec.com:/pub/DEC/axppci Read the files "read_me.txt" and "update.txt" in this directory. For those who can wait a little longer, I'd suggest waiting until the miniloader is available. If you place your order now, the miniloader may even be available by the time you receive the board.
