Well, minicom had to conflict with lrzsz because otherwise it might silently delete lrzsz files which is the sort of suprise we want to avoid. It's not really wierd --- if you look at the original distribution of minicom on sunsite, you'll see that it includes lrzsz. I was just following the original author's intention.
