The initial network configuration should ask for secondary nameservers! It should also ask for the lookup order (hosts, bind, nis - see below) The initial network configuration should ask for the NIS domain (maybe only in expert mode?) and start ypbind if one is provided. The initial network configuration script should ask whether to start a local routing daemon. This is very helpful if you have more than one router on your LAN. BTW. Unless more than one interface is configured the default options of routed should be '-q' !!! And one last note: The install tool does not display flashy advertisements and registration requests like Windows does while installing/configuring. I consider this a true feature, not a bug. ;-) Cheers, Dominik -- eMail: Dominik.Kubla@Uni-Mainz.DE sMail: Dominik Kubla, Lannerstrasse 53, D-55270 Ober-Olm, European Union PGP key: http://www.uni-mainz.de/~kubla/pgp.asc WLAF W3-site: http://www.uni-mainz.de/~kubla/WLAF/Welcome.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Message sent: From: iwj10@thor.cam.ac.uk (Ian Jackson) To: Dominik Kubla Subject: Bug#1699: Acknowledgement (was: Install/Config quirks: Missing secondary DNS server, NIS server, ...)
