The latest version I know of is 2.2beta4. While 2.1 fixes some serious security problems, 2.2beta4 has many bug fixes and updated man pages. If there are no known problems with 2.2beta4 which are not present in 2.1, I suggest to upgrade. It works fine at least for me. Tested by mirroring Debian on a NFS-mounted disk (because the machine with enough disk space has not enough RAM+swap to run mirror...), no problems so far.
