They are updated if you move the cursor over each item and this is confusing. Could you please send me: * a copy of your /var/lib/dpkg/status and /var/lib/dpkg/available; * a transcript of a session where you get it to go wrong (use `script' and then uuencode and mail me the typescript file), or detailed instructions for how you provoke the problem; * the output of `env' in the shell from which you start dselect.
