Secondly, the package has somehow forgotten that I wanted a UK keyboard map. I had to edit /etc/rc.boot/console to change this. Thirdly, the conffiles incorrectly lists /etc/init.d/console rather than /etc/rc.boot/console. This means that if I reinstall I'll wipe out my changes.
