1. What is Dial-Up Monitor
---------------------------
Dial-Up Monitor is a utility that counts the time you stay connected to the
Internet. Simply keep it opened while you stay connected and it will count
the time without any user interaction. Its graphical interface is very
simple to use and you will have no problem understanding how this program
works.
It also has a log to keep you informed of the actions Dial-Up Monitor is
performing.
Dial-Up Monitor can also be used as a dialer, using for this feature the
settings and connections from Dial-Up Networking.

---------------------------------------------
2. What's new in Dial-Up Monitor 1.4 build 2
---------------------------------------------
- minor bug fixes and improvements
- the Auto Reconnect set of options were updated to support reconnection
after a server disconnection. In order for this to work, the connection
must be established from inside Dial-Up Monitor
- the program now allows you to play different sounds when the state of a
  connection is changed (connect/disconnect)

-----------------------
3. System Requirements
-----------------------
- 486DX2/66
- Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 95 or Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98
- VGA or SuperVGA monitor
- 1.0 MB of free disk space
- A mouse or equivalent pointing device

----------------
4. Installation
----------------
If you have a previous version of Dial-Up Monitor and you want to keep the
settings in the new version, it is recommended to install the newer version
over the older one.

If you received this version of Dial-Up Monitor in a ZIP file (it should
usually be DMON14.ZIP), you can install it as follows:

First extract the files to a temporary directory. You can delete this
directory when setup has completed.

Select Run from the Windows 98/95 Taskbar Start menu, type the full name of
the temporary directory followed by a backslash and the name of the
installation program (e.g., C:\TEMP\SETUP.EXE), press the ENTER key, and
follow the instructions displayed.

------------------
5. Known problems
------------------
- Dial-Up Monitor may not detect the connect speed properly if the Dial-Up
Networking 1.2 upgrade is not installed (Windows 95 OSR2 and Windows 98 users
already have it installed).
