FTP Navigator

FTP Navigator is a program that makes using FTP much simpler.  
The graphical interface is intuitive to Windows users, and makes 
transferring files via FTP a easy.  

FTP Navigator runs on Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.X.

FTP Navigator Main Menus

1) Connection
The FTP Navigator Connection menu allows you to perform connect to and disconnect from a site, and to exit the software.

2) Local Computer
This Local Computer menu items allows you to perform file operations on your local computer.

3) FTP Server
The FTP Server menu items allows you to perform file operations on remote FTP-servers.

How to connect to FTP-server?

Most FTP sites require a username and password to upload or download
files to their servers. However, many public FTP archives will let you log on
anonymously to access their files (provided you're uploading or
downloading files in a public-access directory, of course). Using
anonymous FTP is simple: once you connect to a site and you're queried
for a password, just enter anonymous in the user ID field, and
your full email address as the password.

Use connect button or menu item to connect to FTP Site.

1) Enter FTP Server Name (for example: ftp.microsoft.com)
2) Enter Username (for example: anonymous)
3) Enter Password (for example: your Email)

Disconnect
Use this command to disconnect from the current FTP Site.

Stop transfer
Use this command to interrupt current file transfer for connected FTP Site.

FTP Navigator uses pop-up menus for common file operations.  
To access a pop-up menu for a file or folder, 
move the mouse pointer over the file or folder 
and press the right mouse button.

FTP Navigator Menu Items:

New Directory
It allows you to create a folder inside the selected folder.

Remove Directory
The Remove command allows you to remove folders from the FTP Server. 
To use, select the  folders you want to delete, then select this option. 
You will be prompted as to whether or not you're sure you want to delete. 
If you answer yes, the  folders are removed from the server.
If you're removing a folder or folders, the files and folders contained 
within the folder are also removed.  
This command is an easy way to remove lots of data from an FTP server,
so use with care.

New Server
FTP Navigator can adds the most useful sites here. 
After selecting one of these sites, FTP Navigator connects to the site.

Properties
The properties command allows you to view information about 
selected FTP-server.

Delete File
The delete command allows you to remove files from the FTP Server. 
To use, select the files  you want to delete, then select this option.
You will be prompted as to whether or not you're sure you want to delete.
If you answer yes, the files are removed from the server.

Rename File
The rename command allows you to change the name of a file. 
This option is available only when a file is selected. 
When selected, this option creates an edit box around the selection 
allowing the name to be changed.

Large Icons
Use this command to change the right hand panel of FTP Navigator 
to use large icons for files and folders.

Small Icons
Use this command to change the right hand panel of FTP Navigator 
to use small icons for files and folders.

List
Use this command to change the right hand panel of FTP Navigator 
to use a list view for files and folders.

Details
Use this command to change the right hand panel of FTP Navigator 
to use the details view for files and folders. 
The details view provides information including the modified date, 
file size, and the file type

Upload
Use this option to upload (put or send) the selected files 
in the local window to the current folder on the remote server. 
After uploading, the files will appear in the remote list.

Download
Use this option to download (get or receive) the selected files 
in the remote window to the current folder on your computer. 
After downloading, the downloaded files will appear in the local list.
