                    Welcome to Design SCOPE WebSight
                    ================================

1.0 Program Installation
------------------------

To install Design SCOPE WebSight unzip the file websight.zip into the
appropriate directory, preferably on c: drive (eg. c:\WebSight).

2.0 Running the Program
-----------------------

Once installed, Design SCOPE WebSight can be run by :

         a) using the Run/browse option, or
         b) from Explorer (ie. locate the file
            websight.exe and double-click), or
         c) by creating a new shortcut on your desktop.

File names can be passed to WebSight as parameters,
and these will be automatically opened upon startup.
     eg. c:\WebSight\WebSight.exe c:\WebSight\mypage.htm,c:\mine.txt
would cause the 2 files c:\WebSight\mypage.htm and c:\mine.txt
to be located and opened upon startup.

NOTES FOR RUNNING WEBSIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME ONLY....
=========================================================

A web browser (eg. IE4 or Netscape Navigator) is required to display
WebSight's Help screens and to allow HTML files to be launched in
the nominated web browser. When WebSight is started for the first
time a pop-up file browse dialogue box will appear to allow you to
locate your preferred browser (assumed to be already installed - you
can opt to nominate the browser later by selecting the Cancel button).

Having located your browser and clicking the OK button in the file
browse dialogue box, browser parameters are required. Use a double
asterisks ** to indicate where the HTML file name needs to be inserted
in the parameters to launch a HTML in the browser.

eg. For Netscape browser located in c:\Netscape\Netscape.exe
the default parameters ** would result produce a browser
        invoke command :
                       c:\Netscape\Netscape.exe **
Should the active HTML edit file be c:\WebSight\mypage.htm, the
** would be replaced, and the invoke command used would be :
               c:\Netscape\Netscape.exe c:\WebSight\mypage.htm

The default font that has a character set to support treeing of text
files is 'MS LineDraw'. If the MS LineDraw font cannot be found in the
'normal' Windows font directory (c:\windows\fonts), then it will be
added automatically. Should the directory c:\windows\fonts not be found,
then a pop-up warning message will appear indicating that you will have
to install it manually at a later time using MainMenu HTML options.

Note. The 'Terminal' font also supports the treeing characters.
Both fonts are normally supplied as standard with Windows.

SHOULD THE EDIT FILE FONT NOT BE EITHER TERMINAL OR MS LINEDRAW,
THEN TREEING WILL BE REPRESENTED BY STRANGE INAPPROPRIATE SYMBOLS.

ALSO, SHOULD A FIXED-SPACING FONT NOT BE THE SELECTED DISPLAY FONT
THEN THE EDIT FILE MAY PROVE DIFFICULT TO READ. BOTH TERMINAL AND
MS LINEDRAW FONTS ARE FIXED-SPACE CHARACTERS.

3.0 File Type Groupings and Fonts
---------------------------------
WebSight has four (4) standard file categories :

        a) HTML files (*.htm and *.html)
        b) Design files (*.sid)
        c) Registered language files (eg. *.c, *.pas, *.bas etc.)
As new language syntax is defined, the associated files
           fall into this category)
        d) Un-registered (or Miscellaneous) files (ie. not a, b or c)

Each file category has its own default colour scheme
(which can changed to suit your own preferences).

Depending upon your video screen and configuration settings, you may
have to change the screen line-spacing using the 'LineSpace' up/down
arrows on the WebSight's Status line. Make sure that underscore ( _ )
characters can be seen and that any unwanted between-line gaps are
eliminated. As the linespacing is changed, the 'LineSpace' label on
the Status line turns red. When you have the required linespacing,
mouse right-click the red 'LineSpace' label to remove the red and to
save the linespacings you have selected for this file category.

Such Linespace adjustment is a once-off adjustment (although may
it have to be repeated should the font size or face be changed).

4.0 Invoking Help
-----------------

The download zip file WebSight.zip contains only minimal Help support.
The file wsghthelp.zip needs to be downloaded and to be unzipped into
  the dshelp directory.
ie. if WebSight has been unzipped into c:\WebSight,
then WebSighthelp.zip should be unzipped into c:\WebSight\dshelp

Once the Help files have been installed and the browser has been
selected as described in Section 2.0, Help may be obtained :

      a) for Menu options by pressing <F1>
      b) for Toolbar and Status line buttons by mouse right-clicking
      c) from the edit screen by pressing <F1>
      d) from the Help main menu options.

5.0 Saving options
------------------

Should you make any changes to any of the default settings in the
Mainmenu 'Screen' and 'Options' groupings, then the new settings
can be saved as the new default by clicking the Mainmenu->Options->
  'Save Options on Save' option.

6.0 Re-Installing WebSight
--------------------------

Attempts to re-install WebSight after its intitial trial installation
will produce mode errors. The trial period is for 30 days or 60 hours
usage, whichever comes first. Should you wish to purchase a copy of the
product, fill out the pop-up order form (Mainmenu->OrderForm) using the
target PC. Full instructions and pricing details is provided in the

  your order.
