Dear IE, (Your viewers') frustration with the delay in the release of MechWarrior 2 is well founded. We appreciate (their) concern because, as the creative team, we know all too well that this product has been a long time coming. To be fair, however, ground-breaking games like Mech2 are not developed overnight. Producing a game of this incredible depth and sophistication requires an enormous commitment of time, energy, and resources. Are we being a little too ambitious? Possibly . . . but, I think your readers would agree that they would rather wait and play a game that pushes into new territory than be presented with the same old gimmicks dressed in a new box. Because of this product's complexity, the production team has encountered technical obstacles that were unforeseen during the product's conception, which were only recently overcome. And, regrettably, this means that Mech2 will not be released until late Spring of 1995. Activision is committed to only releasing the highest quality games and will not succumb to market pressure for a release until we are 100 percent satisfied with the product. To all your viewers who are eagerly anticipating Mech2, we say: take heart – it will not be long until you are back in the cockpit of your Timber Wolf, striding the barren battlefields of the Clan Occupation Zones.
