The Ocean booth at the CES featured a few IBM games and several home system games. Though there were only a few IBM titles, they all had the "look" of being very popular when released. One of the best appearing IBM titles (not that any looked bad) was the flight simulation/space adventure game Inferno. A very familiar storyline gives you, the greatest pilot known to mankind, the job of destroying the evil Rexxon empire. Your field of flight includes seven different planets and three moons to fight on and around, including inside buildings. The typical game may use up to 80 of the 700 available missions. Sounds like this game won't be solved in one day! Another flight simulator from Ocean is TFX, which is currently available for the PC. If you have ever had the desire to be at the center of the highest level of government intelligence, Central Intelligence could be your only hope. Your main mission in this PC CD-ROM title is to depose of the Fascist dictator of San Madrigal. Interact with over 1,300 characters in your high priority mission, and of course, you will be aided by three top rank specialists. If you have had the desire to "be" Uncle Fester, Addams Family Values from Ocean will probably be your only chance. As Uncle Fester, you need to find Baby Pubert, as he has been abducted by his old nanny, Debbie Jellinsky. To retrieve Pubert, you must sign over part of the estate or find him yourself. Addams Family Values is a one-player adventure game that will be released for both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo in the third quarter of this year. Based on the Fox television series, Eek! the Cat continues his crazy ways through incredibly weird scenarios. For example, you're asked to deliver a Christmas present that was thrown from Santa's sleigh during a head-on crash with a Boeing 747. The odd and funny thing about that is that it is just the tip of the iceberg. Brain-teasing puzzles found through six wacky levels are just the type of fun things that Eek! "digs." Being released for both the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, The Flintstones should be available in the fourth quarter of this year. John Goodman was digitized for the video game version of Fred in the Flintstones. The same is true for the other characters including, Barney Rubble. The save game feature for The Flintstones is a unique idea which requires you to turn cylinders that have words on them to form a sentence regarding the game. Not only is that a "neat" idea, but there is a good chance that you can actually remember the password as well. The Flintstones looks like it will enjoyable for all. Yabba Dabba Doooooo! In Iron Angel, the weight of the world is literally on your shoulders as the fate of the planet is in your hands. All in a day's work, right? Well in this day's work you pilot the "most sophisticated aircraft in history." As the gamer, you must prevent total annihilation, by flying across barren moonscapes to the silent Earth. And remember, the fate of the planet lies in your hands in this PC flight sim. Imagine being thrown into the streets of Chicago in the year 1929 when Al Capone and his gang rule the town. You must join the "Untouchables" in any of five assignments to prevent the evil "Scarface" from destroying the Windy City. First person, side scrolling and aerial perspectives in movie-like graphics make The Untouchables, untouchable. The Shadow, for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, is based on the original thirties radio program and comic book character, as is this summer's movie. As The Shadow, you must clean up the streets of the city and prepare for the final showdown with the city's meanest and nastiest criminal, Shiwan Kahn. Trouble for the city spans eight hellish levels, and The Shadow can use all of his "tricks" to do his job. His "tricks," or superpowers, including throwing brain waves, secret mental powers, and being a master of nearly all weapons. The Shadow should "appear" in the fourth quarter of this year. Born from a vat of lightning-struck jelly, Jelly Boy is a walking, talking blob of jelly that is determined to find the missing pieces of a lost puzzle. As Jelly Boy, you can morph into 27 different objects to help you along your journey. Morph into objects such as a hammer to an umbrella to a submarine. Jelly Boy is a one- or two-player game, that is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter for the Super Nintendo. A really cute character should make for an interesting game. Not appearing in the Ocean booth, but in its own location, was the sequel to Super Nintendo game Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park II returns you to the island as Dr. Grant to rescue co-workers and battle carnivores in a race against time. You must first deactivate the island's energy field and face 12 new creatures not seen in the original Jurassic Park. Be prepared to be scared all over again. Mighty Max, your Saturday morning cartoon hero, will be making his way to the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Your job: Find and rebuild the weapon that Skullmaster has dispersed through fifty cities around the globe. And if you don't, the world will face certain doom. Mighty Max is a one- or two-player simultaneous game and is scheduled for release in the third quarter. Needless to say the Ocean booth, was packed with a variety of impressive looking titles. I could have remained in the Ocean booth all day!
