With its video wall, game playing area, and reasonably quiet private conference room, the New World Computing booth had easily one of the best designs on the floor. Augmenting the spiffy booth were some great looking games. Zephyr, a simple but instantly playable hovercraft shooter game, looks to be one of the action hits of the year with its ultra-fast graphics, modem and network capabilities. Heroes of Might and Magic is not an adventure game, but a SVGA fantasy war game with characters from the M&M world. Iron Cross is a great-looking tactical WWII game with 12 scenarios, 80 different units, and real-time gameplay. Hammer of the Gods, which was developed for New World by Several Dudes (makers of Merchant Prince) is a fascinating-looking game which combines the exploration and trading of Merchant Prince with adventure elements, all set against the backdrop of Norse mythology. With this many solid games waiting in the wings, look for New World Computing to make a strong showing in the upcoming months.
