      BACKGROUND

Many disk commands such as FORMAT may not be performed on
removable disks such as floppies when Stacker's Automounting
feature is enabled for that disk. Unmounting the drive usually
solves the problem. ("Mounting" a Stacker drive is the process of
using the Stacker device driver to make the STACVOL file
containing the compressed data available as a drive. "Unmounting"
      is reversing that process.)

      Some functions which may fail:

         - Formatting or Diskcopying a disk.
         - Defragmenting a disk.
         - Accessing a password-protected removable Stacker disk. The
error message is "Stacker drive in pass-through mode."

      SOLUTION

All of these problems may be overcome by "unmounting" the disk.
This makes the disks available for all disk functions.

       1. Change to the STACKER directory and type:
           STACKER -drive: <enter>
where drive: is the letter of your removable drive.
       2. Now use the disk command on the disk as you would normally.
You may use FORMAT or DISKCOPY, or run a defragmenter such
as Speed Disk. (Remember that FORMAT will erase all data on
the disk, including the compressed information.)
       3. If the problem is access to a password protected removable
disk, simply remount the disk. Change to the STACKER
           directory and type:
           STACKER drive: <enter>
where drive: is the letter of your removable drive. Now just
enter the password for access to your disk.
       4. This procedure may be used with any removable disk such as a
floppy disk, Bernoulli or SyQuest cartridge.
