SLIPLOG is a small (<6K) TSR that expands any SLIP-packet driver with login
and remote control features, which are needed if you want to assemble a
secure, reliable and cheap SLIPGate with ka9q/nos. All you need is an old PC
(286 or better recommended, but 8086 will work), a cheap Ethernet card, one
or more (up to 4) modems, and of course a LAN to which you are allowed to
connect. You will need a minimum of 2 IP addresses assigned to you.

I've added all the programs you'll need to my SLIPKIT distribution file:
the latest nos-version from Jon Lewis and my own 'YANOS'-compile,
Peter Tattam's cslipper, Graham Robinson's packet multiplexer (v1.2b)
as well as Dan Lanciani's great ndis3pkt.386 Shim, the winpkt packet
driver, SLIPLOG, the related utilities COMTOOL and GETNEWS, a completely
rewritten new manual, and some docs (ka9q*.txt, nos_1229.txt, slip.txt)
you should read to understand the ka9q Net Operating System. SLIPLOG,
COMTOOL and GETNEWS are free for non-commercial use. I've also added
the assembler source code to this distribution.

Some SLIPLOG-Features:
 - Function control of the gate with a real cold boot on error.
 - Sends content of a user defined message file after connect.
 - Sends the SLIP IP address after a user logs in successfully.
 - Authentication of callers, with time and date written to a logfile.
 - Programmable, with individual call-back possible.
 - Dial on demand (dial-out) possible.
 - Individual maximum daily online times for each user.
 - Full remote control of the SLIPGate (with sysop password) possible.
 - Switching from SLIP-session to remote control at any time.
 - Integrated mini-terminal program (i.e., for dialing).
 - Integrated diagnostic routines.
 - Perfect running in a MS Windows' DOS-window (including remote
   control and reset).
 - Fixes hang-up-problems during the connect phase of the modem.
 - Services more then one line by simply adding another SLIPLOG.

You may obtain SLIPLOG.ZIP (the sliplog stuff only) and SLIPKIT.ZIP
(= SLIPLOG +all other programs) from these sites:

mvmpc9.ciw.uni-karlsruhe.de /gopher/public/nos/sliplog
biochemistry.cwru.edu /gopher/pub/nos...
inorganic5.chem.ufl.edu /gopher/pub/nos...

(these sites are running ka9q/nos as server. If your GUI ftp doesn't know
this server type, try a command line ftp or use the gopher on port 70 at
inorganic5 or bicochemistry)

Have fun!
