		Read Me File

             NOTE - NOTE - NOTE
	Bug fix in version 1.7d
Fixed another bug that caused the program to miss finding 'name'
anchors in 'foreign' site documents. (Sorry - I thought this one
had been resolved)

	Bug fix in version 1.7c
The fix in 1.7b caused 'mailto:' and 'news:' URL's to be misinterpreted.
This is fixed.

	Bug fix in version 1.7b
This version includes a minor bug fix - if the file name referenced
in a relative URL contained a colon (:), CyberSpyder misinterpreted
the URL. This has been fixed.

New feature added to version 1.7a
When the program starts, it will check to see if there are 'htm' files
in the 'reports' subdirectory. If there are, it assumes these are
report files from a previous run, and gives you option of continuing
the program (thereby deleting the files), or of exiting so you can
view or otherwise deal with them. This will prevent the accidental
deletion of the report files from a previous run.

New feature added to Version 1.7
Previous versions of CyberSpyder Link Test did not attempt tp check
any URL which appeared to be for a CGI script as these would
occasionally not process properly. A new option has been added
(click the Options button) where you can allow the program to test
these URL's. If you encounter any that do not process properly
(the server will return some kind of error, even though the URL
works properly from a browser), you can either turn the check back
off, or accept the fact the the program will report the error even
though the URL may be correct.
               END OF NOTE

One of the problems for anyone running a WWW site, is ensuring that
all of the links on the site are operational. In spite of being very
careful in setting them up, almost every site has some broken ones.
(The average is about 2%)

CyberSpyder Link Test is a WebMasters friend as it will check all
of the links on a site and report on any that no longer work!

The WebMaster may be responsible for all of the links in an server
installation, or may be an individual or company with a large number
of links under their home page. CyberSpyder Link Test may be used
to handle either or both situations.

To install this program, unzip the file to a temporary directory, then
run 'setup.exe'.

The program requires windows sockets - if you run a browser such
as Netscape from the PC, then you can run this program.

View the help file for additional information on using the program.
Note that the reports produced by the program are produced as HTML
documents. A sub-directory, 'reports', is created under the directory
from which 'lnkchek.exe' is run and the report files are written to
that directory.

CyberSpyder Link Test is distributed as shareware. It may be
freely redistributed as long as all of the original files in this
package are included. (See Help file for more details)
