Freeze

written by Atl@ntis

Freeze is another Windows bug.It causes the victim's system to hang and keyboard or mouse doesn't work so he can only do hardware reset, that means that he might lose some of his unsaved work!

Jolt(the first program for using the freeze)sends some ICMP packets(read the Clink article to read about ICMPs packets)that are not completed. Its of these packets are part of the whole packet.Windows try to collect them and finally the are hanged!

Microsoft has given some patches for this bug but once again most times they don't work. You can manually(Requires a hex editor,an editor which you can use to edit Control Panel extensions files...files on the C:\Windows\System,on of the best ones is the HEdit which you can download from any TUCOWS site.)So since you have a hex editor locate the file named vip.386 on the C:\Windows\System and change the number 76D2 to 4840.Save the vip.386 and reboot. This way is the best one,it is sure that it will work.
